As an archivist, long extent lists are difficult to navigate when looking for a specific type. Typeahead is not enough in all cases, when there are many similar options – or in RDE where typeahead is not available at all.
Meanwhile, as an admin, extent type lists are difficult to re-order or organize in the controlled vocabulary term lists. Ex: moving an entry from the end of a list of 300 means clicking "up" 300 times. On our system, that also means it takes 25 minutes of clicking "Up" to move an item to the top of the list.
Can the staff UI display the Extent or other vocab dropdowns in alpha order? Or make it much easier for an admin to sort and re-order the enumeration lists?
- there is another issue and Staff Interface Enhancement Working Group recommendations that address this area and are slated for future implementation. I'm going to close this as a duplicate.
