As an archivist or user I would like to select the language of the public user interface by selecting an option within the interface

Description

Right now the language/translation for the interface labels is set in the configuration file. Though I would still want there to be a default translation, I would like for users to be able to change the language they see, from the yml files that are available, on the fly.

The translations come from the yml files, and user-supplied description wouldn’t have anything in the yml files. (The yml files for a language will often have more specialized translations supplied by someone who knows both the language and the archives domain.) Translated description on the fly would still have to come from the browser or another language helper that lays on top of the browser.

Confirming Sarit’s findings, I was able to toggle between languages on the main landing page. One caveat: labels only appear to translate for notes if the Label field in the note is left blank in the staff interface. So,

does not translate but

does. Not sure if this was expected/desired behavior?

Testing shows this appears to work on the testing site. Since I am not fluent in these languages, I cannot confirm if it translated accurately, but I was able to switch to a new language in the PUI.

This isn’t a new assignment (you already did it). For some reason it was showing as Unassigned.

Dev-Pri looked at this ticket during our May meeting, and we decided to pass it for development.
