Clarity needed about required fields in Collection Management subrecord

Description

In the staff interface, when working with the collection management subrecord (whether in a resource, accession, or digital object record), there are two fields that have a grayed out asterisk (which typically means they are conditionally required, but neither tool tip explicitly states this): Processing Total Extent (text field) and Extent Type (drop-down field). If you enter a value for Processing Total Extent and leave Extent Type blank, you will not be able to save the record unless you also select an Extent Type. If you select an Extent Type, but you leave Processing Total Extent blank, you will be able to save the record. Perhaps some clarifying information could be added to the tool tips about what exactly is required depending on which scenario.

Environment

Windows 8.1 Enterprise OS; Browsers: Firefox v.57.0.2 (64-bit) and Google Chrome Version 63.0.3239.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Thanks, Kevin! We'll address it in the March meeting!

I'm reluctant to change the Extent Type tooltip since it looks like it inherits from the Extent tooltips. To the Processing Total Extent tooltip I would propose adding "An Extent Type must be provided in conjunction with this field." to what's currently there. I ran this by the Docs sub-team via e-mail yesterday afternoon but haven't heard any feedback yet.

I'll add it to our priorities list

re: documentation and tool tips. Would User Docs be able to create brief tool tips to clarify this?
