As an archivist, I would like to access all applicable Top Containers directly from a Resource or Accession view

Hi, I’d like to see this feature prioritized. From within a resource or accessions record, one often wants to see all top containers for that resource/accession. Could it be a link, like the related digital object?

Harvard is doing some work currently in this area. It might be good to wait to see what they do or coordinate.

I believe I was thinking it would be a popup under the More menu or a separate one titled something like Manage Top Containers. It would then bring up the Top Containers window with the appropriates ones for the resource you were in- so just a short cut to having to go to the top containers and then doing a search. It’s like what was done for printing finding aid on staff side. Make sense? Probably have a way to get back to the Resource should be there too.

Hello! Writing on behalf of the Dev Pri subteam.
We discussed this ticket and some questions came up. More specifications would help the idea be more actionable.
Would it be a pop-up window (like the Create Agent box) or take you to a different screen? How would this display if there were thousands of containers?
Is all that’s needed a list of containers? Or is functionality wanted? Staff interface group recs has this recommendation (to pop out a window), w/o all of top container mgmt functionality. (But it doesn’t have accession recs ability).

It would be nice to not have to go to so many windows ( as you said, why can't instances show the info right off rather than having to View). We currently "lump" our Accession Top Containers (like Boxes 1-6) so Accessions not as much an issue right now. Hope that makes sense.
When working with a resource or accession, I would like to be able to view all top containers for that Resource or accession (like was possible in AT). When we have to update a lot of (or a few) locations for a resource or accession, this is needed. We may also be making other changes to that resource or accession. Currently, you have to go directly to Manage Top Containers.
