Per this ticket, the MARC exporter now includes authority identifiers for 1xx, 6xx, and 7xx fields if they exist. https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/ANW-692 (This is great.)
However, if an agent has a $v, $x, $y, or $z subdivision attached in the resource record, the authority identifier is still exported in the $0. For example:
This leads to a situation, flagged by our metadata librarian, where the implication is that the $0 authority identifier refers to the entire field ($a + $d + $v), when in fact it only refers to the person ($a + $d).
Since the form/time/place subdivisions are attached via the resource record, rather than in the agent module, it seems to me that the MARC exporter using the rules defined in will always attach a $0 to an agent if it exists, regardless of whether there is a subdivision in the resource record.
Locally, we will take care of this as part of our pre-catalog stylesheet. But ideally, the exporter would check for existence of a form/time/place subdivision to an agent before tacking on the $0.
Sort of related to this, our cataloger reports that our subjects with a geographic component and should export as $z end up $x. She then has to hand edit these after the export.
On behalf of Dev Pri: , we recommend creating a new ticket with the issue you described. Thanks!
