13:48:20 From ArchivesSpace : Hi everyone! The agenda for today’s meeting can be found here: https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ADC/pages/895090689/2019-9-18+Meeting+notes 14:05:59 From Natalie Adams : I'm not sure how to see the agenda? Should I be able to see it? 14:06:21 From Christine Di Bella : agenda is at: https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ADC/pages/895090689/2019-9-18+Meeting+notes 14:06:50 From Natalie Adams : Thanks! 14:12:15 From Natalie Adams : I would find it helpful to have a video tutorial on using top containers and locations- the video on locations is great but it's not really linked to top containers 14:13:29 From Rachel Searcy : Here at NYU we developed this libguide to act as an internal and external resource: https://guides.nyu.edu/archivesspace -- we're happy to share it. 14:15:42 From Freya : Thanks Rachel! 14:16:57 From Jerry Boggio : Where can one find the training videos? 14:16:58 From Natalie Adams : Great, thanks! The videos are really helpful. 14:17:36 From rmcinnes : Who can i consult with to work out our problems making the cataloging function of ArchivesSapce work? I processed a large collection, but was not able to make the cataloging part of ArchivesSpace work. What am I doing wring and who can help me? 14:17:45 From Christine Di Bella : Our help videos are at http://docs.archivesspace.org - if you need a login let us know 14:18:29 From Christine Di Bella : videos for almost all of the Online Forum sessions are linked from https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ADC/pages/802127927/ArchivesSpace+Online+Forum+2019 14:20:10 From Christine Di Bella : Awesome ArchivesSpace: https://github.com/archivesspace/awesome-archivesspace 14:20:46 From Jerry Boggio : Thank you for the links! 14:22:06 From UNC-CH Libraries : Does the documentation include anything about assessment records? Thanks! 14:22:41 From rmcinnes : Well, I thought I had put all of the correct information in the right places, then click on the cataloging function, hoping to produce subject added entries, but nothing happened. 14:25:40 From rmcinnes : OK, thanks 14:25:48 From BILLG : Will there be an easy way to get a hard copy of the new manual once it get moved 14:26:09 From Sarit Hand : what about just showing us by sharing his screen 14:27:41 From Anna : Could user group permissions be defined more fully? 14:31:22 From Natalie Adams : Thanks Christine for your explanation about resources/archival objects. I think we will have moved past the need for user-defined fields in archival objects soon (one we have migrated our data) but we also noticed that you can only generate a pdf for a resource (not an archival object) also and I wondered whether there was a bit of background I ought to undertsand 14:33:30 From Marcella : Are others interested in printing accession records to pdf? 14:33:41 From Natalie Adams : That makes sense about the pdf- useful to understand the link with EAD. WE're looking at putting some big catalogues (7-8 levels) on AS and wondered about producing pdfs for sections rather than the whole thing. 14:35:11 From Anna : We've been discussing how to export the accession module and printed as a PDF would be better than printing from the Browser. We would be interested in having the ability to print a PDF from the Accession Module. 14:35:45 From Natalie Adams : Thanks Sarit- I think you're right about the context there. I guess I was worried we were missing something - trying to use AS in the 'wrong' way. Sounds like there is no 'wrong' way- which is great! 14:36:39 From FPitaro : We would be interested in being able to print accession records to pdf. 14:37:13 From blerette : I would be interested in that as well 14:37:53 From Natalie Adams : Exactly Christine- knowing the decision points in advance would be really great. 14:39:25 From Kevin Clair : oh, +1 for linking accessions to archival objects 14:39:50 From Sarit Hand : Thanks! 14:40:50 From Kevin Clair : here’s the JIRA ticket for it: https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/ANW-287 14:41:42 From Noah Huffman : Here's a plugin that lets you print a tidier view of an accession record from your browser: https://github.com/YaleArchivesSpace/print. You could also use browser's "Save to PDF" feature 14:44:19 From Seth Shaw : That depends very much on where those digital objects are coming from and what metadata you have available as well. 14:44:48 From Seth Shaw : I presented on getting CONTENTdm digital object records into ArchivesSpace last year at the Members Forum. 14:44:56 From Natalie Adams : I found a really useful thread on the discussion list encouraging you to think about AS as the 'glue' between your metadata and digital objects. It helped me understand how to use AS better 14:49:45 From Rachel Searcy : I'd love to see a tool to make bulk edits to a container list -- like, if you were rehousing a collection and needed to shift a lot of box/folder numbers. 14:49:53 From Anna : YES! 14:49:58 From Marcella : +1 14:50:05 From Natalie Adams : +1 14:50:09 From rmcinnes : Yes!! 14:50:37 From Rachel Searcy : We've tried to come up with a script to do this, but it's been quite fragile and only partially successful. 14:51:49 From Miloche : I'd like to be able to open existing containers in the RDE, make edits in RDE and then save changes back to the resoure record. This would be a lot faster than opening every singe archival object record. 14:52:09 From Natalie Adams : +1 14:52:24 From Anna : +1 14:52:38 From Noah Huffman : Rachel, here is our attempt to batch update Archival Objects with new containers: https://github.com/duke-libraries/archivesspace-duke-scripts/blob/master/python/duke_update_archival_object_containers.py 14:52:42 From FPitaro : + to editing in RDE 14:53:06 From Rachel Searcy : Thanks Noah :) 14:53:38 From Rachel Searcy : Sounds great, Christine. 14:54:55 From Anna : Our earlier comment may have been missed: Could user group permissions be defined more fully? 14:55:50 From Anna : In the user manual 14:56:43 From Natalie Adams : That sounds great Jessica 14:56:45 From BILLG : Side question Been out of loop for a while what ever happen with the merger 14:59:26 From Freya : Do you anticipate easier connections with, say, dSpace? 14:59:42 From BILLG : Was hoping there will be better intergration with Dspace 15:01:35 From Marcella : thanks for starting these back up, Jessica! 15:01:38 From Anna : Thanks! 15:01:39 From Natalie Adams : Thanks everyone- bye! 15:01:39 From Rachel Searcy : thanks! 15:01:41 From Freya : Thanks! 15:01:42 From rmcinnes : Thanks
