This section of the wiki is devoted to documenting the community-supported initiatives ArchivesSpace is undertaking to support and amplify those that document and empower individuals, organizations and communities that work to make the world a more inclusive place.

These initiatives were initially developed from suggestions gathered from an initial Google document [link to doc] distributed to community members, Open Community Calls on Antiracism and Inclusion held in the summer of 2020 [link to just 24 notes] and a follow-up feedback form circulated to the archives community [link to that?].

The progress of these initiatives will be tracked in this section of the wiki. While some of the ideas may be fairly simple to implement, others may require considerable cooperation and discussion across the community, including the involvement of the ArchivesSpace Governance Board. We also acknowledge that some of the ideas are better addressed (and often are already being addressed) beyond ArchivesSpace. In this space we will both indicate what ArchivesSpace is doing and point to groups and resources in the wider community.

This is a living and breathing effort, not a checklist that will be “done” when we reach the end of the initial group of ideas. Please reach out to us if you have questions or feedback about any current ArchivesSpace Antiracism and Inclusion initiatives or would like to suggest new work to be done. Our email is ArchivesSpaceHome@lyrasis.org. Thank you for working with us to make ArchivesSpace – as an application, a community, and a program – a richer, more inclusive place.
