Nominations Requested for ArchivesSpace Technical Advisory Council

...

The ArchivesSpace Governance Board is seeking nominations from its members for the ArchivesSpace Technical Advisory Council (TAC). Nominations may be made only by ArchivesSpace member representatives. Member representatives are encouraged to nominate persons from their institution or from other member institutions, including Registered Service Providers, (please see the lists at http://archivesspace.org/members) who are experienced with some of the activities assigned to TAC and who are capable of participating on a regular basis throughout the term of service of July 1, 2016-June 30, 2018.

TAC (http://www.archivesspace.org/technicaladvisory) is a critical part of the ArchivesSpace community, having responsibility for providing overall technical guidance to code committers, to the User Advisory Council, and to the ArchivesSpace Governance Board. TAC's current activities include:

  •  developing a community of committers, including establishing guidelines for contributing code and reviewing contributions,
  • reviewing enhancements and priorities identified by the User Advisory Council and estimating the work needed,
  •  documenting and assisting with resolving bugs identified in the application,
  •   identifying integration points for ArchivesSpace with other systems (e.g. digital asset management systems, patron and request management systems, etc.) and developing technical requirements to undertake such integrations,
  • updating technical documentation, and
  •  undertaking release management for new versions of the software.

Sub-groups teams will be established within TAC to address the areas identified above, as well other activity areas identified subsequently. Nominees must have sufficient knowledge of application architectures and coding practices to participate in and lead some of the identified activities. Nominees with experience in developing web applications (particularly using Ruby on Rails and Sinatra) and software testing, or interest in those areas, are especially welcome.
