Charge and membership, as established in adapted from the ArchivesSpace Bylaws (Art. V, Sec. 2):
The Role of the Nominating Committee will be to administer the process of for electing members to the Governance Board and of recommending recommend members for appointment to the Technical and User Advisory councils. That role entails calling The Committee will put out a call for nominations, conducting elections for Governance Board members and announcing winners recommend nominees to the Governance Board and ArchivesSpace community, assessing nominees for councils and recommending appointees to the Board, and confirming all appointments with appointees. for approval, conduct elections for Board vacancies, and coordinate with the Board chair on announcing winners and appointees and contacting other candidates.
The Nominations Committee will be constituted at the 3rd Quarter Board Meeting each year (typically in March), and it will begin its work in early April. Its work will conclude in June after elections have concluded and appointments have been made to the councils.
The Nominations Committee will include the following members:
- Chair of the Governance Board, or another Board member delegated the role
- Chair of the Technical Advisory Council
- Chair of the User Advisory Council
- Five at large members, each representing one of the ArchivesSpace membership levels
- ArchivesSpace Program Manager, ex officio
The Chair of the Nominating Committee will be serve as the Chair of the Governance Board, or the assigned delegate.
There will be a Nominating Committee to solicit and select nominees to run for election to the Governance Board and for appointment to the Technical and Users Advisory councils. The Nominating Committee will be appointed by the Governance Board and will consist of nine members: Chair of the Governance Board or designee; Chair of the Technical Advisory Council; Chair of the Users Advisory Council; five members-at-large representing the five ArchivesSpace membership levels; and the ArchivesSpace Program Manager (ex officio).
The Chair of the Governance Board or a member of the Governance Board designated by the Chair will serve as convener of the Nominating Committee. The five members-at-large will be selected and appointed annually at the start of the nomination/election process.
The Nominating Committee will solicit nominees for the Governance Board to fill vacancies among the Member-at-Large representatives. The Nominating Committee will also solicit nominees from various membership levels for appointment to the Users and Technical Advisory councils as needed.
