Brian will need to weigh in on what is possible with customizable elements — and, do we need to identify specific fields that can be customizable, or can all fields be customizable?
Glossary
We would like to wrap this document (Glossary) up by the end of this week.
Tommy edited this so that the actual recommendations are at the top of the page, and the discussion is down below. There are two categories at the top. The first are the items that are in the top level navigation, while the second are the section headings for the metadata.
A few notes came up on the call:
"Physical Size & Scope of Material" is problematic because of the use of the word Scope, which has other purposes in archives. This will be rethought.
"Unprocessed Materials" does not work for "Accessions" and also needs to be rethought. These are two separate things that might be related on some records, but aren't necessarily. We are working on this, as well. Note that it turns out it might be useful to have an easier access point into actual Unprocessed Material, as well.
Search Relevance
General call to the WG to review the relevance behavior on the test corpus between now and the next call, and to indicate your desired adjustments, what doesn't make sense, etc. on the Relevance in search results page. This is a conversation Brian will need to lead once he gets input.
Wireframes
General call to WG to review the blue panels on the wireframes for questions/notes and provide feedback on Slack and here on the wiki this week so that the feedback can be incorporated before the next call.
Discussed the idea of potentially showing snippets of the search terms in search results similar to how the OAC does it (e.g. www.oac.cdlib.org/search?query=astronomy&x=0&y=0). This isn't a perfect solution, but we will come up with some ideas for how to use this.
Discussed merging "modify" and "refine" results into one more simple button.
Call the grid view "digital" not "digitized." (Same with anywhere else "digitized" is used.) There is concern that the grid view makes this look like a digital asset management system, so want to clarify that this display shows Archival Object records that contain reference to Digital Items, not the digital items themselves. If a digital item does not have an Archival Object record associated with it, it will not display here.
Copy citation to clipboard function: Mark noted loves this, and would like it to be encoded so that it works automagically with citation management systems such as zotero, etc.
- CHC (Rain Michaels (Unlicensed)) provide Brian a list of technical requirements to meet the functionality in the wireframes, as well as a sense of what aspects of the wires are "Phase I" complete and what is still being worked on so that he knows what he can start building
