Program Update

@Christine Di Bella

  • version 2.8.1 is out and we’re working on 3.0 (agents module expansion), which we aim to get out before the end of December

  • the call is out for planning group members for our third Online Forum. Please contact Jessica to volunteer.

  • as part of the community’s ongoing discussions about anti-racism and inclusion, we’ve launched a new section of the wiki where you can learn more about the different initiatives. As part of the overall effort, a planning group that includes Brittany and Jessica has prepared a proposal for a pilot program that will work with a small number of HBCUs, HSIs, tribal archives, or other institutions primarily by/for BIPOC to implement ArchivesSpace and get to know the community over a three-year period. This proposal will be considered by the ArchivesSpace Governance Board at their December 1 meeting. More to come soon.

Discussion: Promoting Submission of, and Commenting on, JIRA tickets

Dev Pri sub-team (@Daniel Michelson )

  • shared a short poll to see if other UAC members have submitted and/or commented on Jira tickets

  • how can we support people submitting and/or commenting on tickets?

  • Why haven’t people submitted tickets?

  • Is there a more user friendly way to submit issues?

    • community looks like something for developers

    • Google form?

    • maybe an anonymous form - hard to do when you want to contact people for follow up

    • Reminders and education on how to submit on Jira

    • Jira can be a tricky interface to use to see active tickets and similar tickets

  • Open Calls with the community - have an open forum so people can brainstorm ideas for features

  • sharing information with members and making sure the resources go past the member rep

  • Comments on Jira tickets:

    • others experiencing the same issue or who want the feature should comment on the tickets

    • need to know if others want the feature or experiencing the issue

    • need to highlight why people should use comments

  • Have more communication out about tickets from Dev Pri

    • include in the development update email from ArchivesSpace

    • consider a monthly blog post with tickets that people can share feedback on

  • Maybe work with Member Engagement sub-team and the Member Match program to provide resources for new and current members and those participating in the program

    • encourage them to submit tickets

10 mins

Other Business

  • share sub-team updates with Jessica for ArchivesSpace monthly updates emails

  • share tickets for comments with UAC listserv
