11 | Discussion: Do we see any opportunities to propose sessions / presentations at upcoming conferences (Code4Lib, etc.)? | All | A suggestion by Terry Reese (Unlicensed) was made for Code4Lib to do a "How to get started" session. Emphasize community aspect. Noah Huffman (Deactivated) suggested a short session on how to write plug-ins, walk-thru an example. BradleyW (Unlicensed)suggested to this could also cover other ways to contribute to ASpace (specs, testing, etc). Noah Huffman (Deactivated) mentioned that a SAA spreadsheet has been started for ideas (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GLfkcMFZ9X3u_MY3LNzw8USYSFr60PzoHSddTzytH3M/edit?pli=1#gid=0) Deadline is Nov. 13 for sessions; some types of sessions can be proposed later (e.g. pop-ups, roundtables). Noah will send out the spreadsheet link information to the TAC group. BradleyW (Unlicensed)posed the idea of a set of HowTos contribute for SAA: feature requests by asking, , writing specifications, creating reports, building importers, plug-ins, etc. Sally Vermaaten (Unlicensed) said she would help. Esme? mentioned upcoming Hydra meetings may be a good opportunity to run ArchivesSpace developer sessions. BradleyW (Unlicensed) asked some questions about Code4Lib. Last year a house was provided and a couple sessions were held there. Repeat in Philly? It was suggested to do something, like proposed for SAA as a pre-conference 1/2 day workshop. Chris Fitzpatrick (Unlicensed) and Brian Hoffman (Unlicensed) will be there and culd help. Terry Reese (Unlicensed) said he could do some high level stuff. Max Eckard said he'd be there and willing to help. A signup sheet for pre-conference events gets added to the CODE4LIb website. Terry Reese (Unlicensed) will post note on TAC listserv confirming about a potential Code4lib pre-conference session and confirming who from TAC might be interested in helping to set something up. |
