Checking in

All

For TAC, all leadership positions are filled. The Tech Docs team is going to have more of an API focus this year than originally expected (and less on Awesome ArchivesSpace). The January team meeting with have dual team breakouts, building off of the success of this type of meeting last year.
For UAC, the October meeting activity went well. There may be value in doing a part 2. Member Engagement is still in need of a Vice Lead; there may be a possibility of this year’s lead staying in the position for another year.

Leadership position status update/UAC Vice Chair

All

As previously discussed, since Mary’s new institution has decided against becoming members for the foreseeable future, she needs to step down. So far we have not been able to find a replacement. Rebecca will resume the search in January.

The Code of Conduct Review Task Force is wrapping up but it’s possible that someone from UAC may need to fill Mary’s role. Will have a better idea after the final meeting later in December.

Looking ahead to February joint meeting

All

Austin will send an invite to Thimios and Brian for the accessibility discussion. TAC and UAC will also work on some questions that can be sent ahead of time. Austin will create the poll for the meeting in January.

Anything else?

All

We discussed that some sub-teams have charges with core functions that include more critical activities than others (for example, User Documentation) and that this may place an outsize workload on those teams and give them less bandwidth for taking on other kinds of projects, depending on how their activities are approached. There may need to do a review of some functions and consider whether additional assistance from the program team or external help (such as a consultant to do a holistic review of the user documentation) may be warranted. It’s important to keep in mind that the program team is also small and already provides more direct assistance to some teams than others.
