Accomplishments this Term:
Rebuilding and documenting processes:
Revisited our charge and clarified roles and responsibilities, including how the sub-team works with the ArchivesSpace program team.
We implemented a Jira board for TechDocs issues, so we now have a central system for tracking and managing work. Additionally, we defined procedures for moving tasks forward.
Improving technical documentation:
We supported the ArchivesSpace program team in migrating the Techdocs website to Astro.
Post-migration to Astro, we have enhanced documentation and made other improvements to the new Techdocs site.
We expanded and improved API documentation.
Outreach and engagement:
We monitored listservs and other community forums to identify gaps in Techdocs.
Areas for Potential Improvement:
Increase engagement with Awesome ArchivesSpace
Improve documentation of GitHub workflows
Enhance asynchronous and between-meeting communication
Priorities for 2025-2026 Term:
Create documentation for onboarding new members, including how to complete tasks such as submitting pull requests.
Review techdocs to identify where further clarity is needed and where examples could be improved, creating Jira tickets to manage these updates.
Identify and implement strategies to encourage the ArchivesSpace community to active use and update techdocs and Awesome ArchivesSpace
Establish a changelog page on techdocs, which will serve as a comprehensive record for new ArchivesSpace relases.
Explore the possibility of working with the User Documentation sub-team to identify opportunities for collaboration.
