• Good, steady progress in the Councils, though less activity in December because most meetings were cancelled due to holidays

Nominations season and identifying new leaders

• Erik Mitchell of UCSD is the Chair of the Committee this year - will reach out soon about the appointment of the committee

• Chairs and Vice Chairs of the Councils serve on the group but don’t have to run the process

• There is nothing that Council leaders need to two right now for this process, but, if interested:

  • Review the materials on the Nominating Committee wiki

  • Begin to identify anticipated openings for the new term

  • Mention to people you think might be good/interesting in serving

• It is useful when recruiting to make it clear that serving in a leadership position at sometime during a person’s three-year term is an expectation of ArchivesSpace service

• Filling leadership positions within the Councils is the responsibility of the Council/Council group leaders - it never hurts to start early

• For the Vice Chair position, ideal is someone with 2 years left on their term (i.e. ending in 2028), but perfectly fine to be someone who’s term is due to end earlier (we can extend terms for leadership service)

• Planning for Governance session at the Virtual Member Forum will begin soon - typically the Chairs of the Councils are asked to participate

• It’s Board report time again (Feb. 4 deadline)

• Invites for Martha and Zeff to January TAC and UAC meetings
