Development update

Review of work in test instance at https://mlc.archivesspace.org

  • There was considerable discussion about how the preferred title for display is selected for the UI. Right now, the title type field is the first field that determine the display. The group agreed this isn’t ideal. The plan is to remove the title type field from this logic and instead use either a check box to select the display title and/or use a drag and drop prioritization similar to DO file URIs.

  • There was discussion about where the titles subrecord displays (below basic information) and if this is too confusing for the user. Should this sub record be open by default?

  • Support of multilingual description will need to be configurable with a “lite mode” similar to agents. This discussion was tabled until next month.

Search results discussion

Everyone

  • The language selected by the user will be primary for search, meaning results in that language will be prioritized, but all results in all languages will display.

  • There needs to be an addition of a facet in search and browse to narrow results by language of description.

MTC-1 comment discussion

Alison/Sandrine

https://archivesspace.atlassian.net/browse/MCTF-1

  • ArchivesSpace has a commitment to support MARC but the use of the title type field is not required and the expectation is only orgs that need to use this functionality will. This will be made clear in user documentation and tooltips.

  • Removing title type from the display logic will also help.
