Agenda / Minutes

  • Updates from HM
    • AR-1300
      • minor bug in the first release (the inheritance for some inherited fields won't show up; new patch available now to remedy this, but HM will come up with a better way to address this bug.)
      • still thinking of how to document this information (the ids for the solr docs have changed, and that will be documented in the next release of the documentation).
      • will still require some updates to the code in the PUI to make sure that labels display properly for all things inherited
      • delivered with the default configuration (but that doesn't include all of the new features).
      • to do: mark will follow up with HM about turning on more fields in the configuration file so that the testing group can do additional testing.
      • question about the new #s used to differentiate the PUI index from staff index documents.
      • solr index will double in size... folks will need to have fair warning that their solr indices will more than double in size with the new PUI.  
      • the staff solr indexer will run independently of the PUI indexer...  but the PUI indexer will run more slowly due to the inheritance.
      • to do: mark triggs will send bobbi instructions on how to run the dev-indexer with more memory.
      • suggestion to use two mysql backends for development testing: one with all of the data, and another with a small dataset (in this case, the test corpus)
      • to do: james will update the nightly push of the test corpus to include the PUI indexer state if it's not already.
      • kudos to Cory's spec for AR-1300!
    • "full tree" vs. 3 up, 3 down, etc.
      • we'll discuss on the next call
  • Updates from Bobbi
    • "advanced search" highlighting (new line per query fragment) 
    • empty searches added (i.e. you don't have to search for "*" to get all of the records)
    • will update so that "hitting the enter" key on any text field initiates the search
    • going to concept records (subjects, agents) re-includes the material description records as search results.
    • added sorting (including years when appropriate).
    • new update going in tonight to fix some of the span html elements.
    • may need to revisit the readmore.js as it was developed for a separate use case. 
    • request to implement a post api endpoint for advanced search features.
  • Usability updates
    • ran a new test right before Thanksgiving...  will probably be uploaded to the wiki early next week.  
    • intern will be ending soon.
    • could we squeeze in another usability test for AR-1300?  probably not enough time, but...
    • harvard will try to add another intern to do usability testing in the springtime.
  • New date for the candidate/beta release date
    • bobbi will be working on the project now until 12/23.
    • "if we're going to push the date, let's not push it several times."
    • work to do:  tree work, single-scroll, PDF, request feature, container inventory, digital object view, minor clean-ups, etc.
    • perhaps try to find a good date in february to give plenty of breathing room?
    • to do: discuss and determine a date before the next conference call. (ideally share that with the community by dec. 9th at the latest, and include a video overview of the current PUI with AR-1300 feature; mark can do this).
  • Next meeting: two weeks from now, same time?
