I am reporting this for an Atlas client: As an archivist responsible for description, I would like for the Accession Date field in the Accession default values template to remain blank. This way, I am prompted to enter a new date when I create actual accession records using the template.
Currently, that accession date field defaults to the date that the template is created. I didn’t notice this at first, and created a number of accession records in the months after I created the template that are erroneously using the wrong accession date. If I delete the date field from the Accession default values template, it will auto-populate with the value 9999-12-31, which I am leaving as is for now, as that will catch my eye and prompt me to change the accession date when I am creating new accession records using the template.
I was able to identify the accession records that needed to be fixed by adding Accession Date and Audit Information to my Accession record Search/Browse columns in my Repository Preferences.
