As an archivist, I want an easy, GUI-based way of formatting structured notes (bibliographies, ordered/unordered lists, indexes)

Description

Recommendation is perhaps buttons that help with markup instead of complex multi part fields

Dev. Pri. discussed this ticket and we are closing it because it is so old. Please feel free to make a new ticket if this wish persists.

I can't edit this to give it an additional label of staff_interface. Part of the issue that I've been hearing about is that the data entry takes a lot of clicking, scrolling, and opening and closing boxes. When someone is used to working directly in xml and giving the tags, it almost seems like more work. What if it was possible to
1. Either by a click or shortcut keystroke - open a box and the cursor is in the Note type.
2. Start typing the notetype and it autosuggests (or you could scroll to the correct one)

3. Currently, the cursor goes to "Persistent ID," but my repository usually jumps straight to "Content." It would be nice for the repository manager to be able to suppress fields the institution doesn't use and in general jump to the required field - assuming that's the most common next step for most institutions.
Even more time could be saved by using another keystroke to open another note field and repeat the process for multiple notes in a finding aid.
Just an idea!

It was agreed at FPT meeting on 10/30/15, that the Documentation team would be requested to provided a list of enhancements for structured notes, with the provision that there would be no need for changes to the underlying data model at this time.

We have a template driven approach to facilitate these kinds of structured notes, which is based on the EAD 2002 schema. What would be a different / better approach?

This requires more investigation and specification.

This is very difficult, since we want EAD markup and not HTML. Would we have to write a custom markup editor?

Won't Do
