As an archivist, I want the Agents and Subject Headings sorted in Resources

Description

When viewing a Resource, the Agents in the Agent Links section and the Subject Headings in the Subjects section should be sorted alphabetically and for subjects (by type). They currently appear to be in a random order or maybe in added order. Or add a way to sort in the Resource after they are added?

This also will aplly to the printed finding aid.

At the October 4, 2022 meeting of Dev/Pri, we agreed to pass this ticket, however must be completed first.

In addition, a config option for this feature is necessary on order to accommodate institutions who use the order of entries to indicate importance. The feature should be enabled by default.

One of our hosting customers would also like this feature. They wrote: “having an alphabetized list would be a time saver for editing large collections”

Yes, as mentioned at Dev Pri, I believe that [ANW-504] will have to occur before this feature enhancement as, otherwise, alphabetizing agents will lead to the first alphabetical agent always being the main creator on MARC export (since that export currently uses the logic that the first == the primary).

The Usability subteam discussed this ticket and feel that it should go forward with the cataloger’s comments: alpha sorted within groupings of agents, subjects, genre/forms. Should this go back to Dev. Pri.?
