How do working groups get form? Discussed that organization into sub-teams and other groups is at the discretion of the Councils themselves. Previous working groups tended to come from TAC and have a specific deliverable that could be accomplishable over a single term or multiple terms. Participation in working groups is not limited to members of the Councils (or members of ArchivesSpace itself). Metadata Standards wants to propose a group to develop/document the ArchivesSpace data model. The group liked the idea but agreed that clarity is needed about what this means. Valerie will seek information from Elizabeth Roke, who proposed it.
10 min | Bylaws clarity | All | The mismatch was explained via email, but where and how will this information move forward if the bylaws themselves present a contradiction?
Gordon explained that the Board didn’t want to provide specifics on renewals in the bylaws, thinking that was an operational decision the Councils could work out themselves. Decided that as the incoming Chairs Valerie and Regina would work out the policy.
5 min | How do ad hoc teams get formed? | Valerie | Does there just need to be a request for one? When in a term does that happen? Who decides? Essentially TAC-MD has an idea for an ad hoc team, but I’m also curious about these other questions more broadly.
