Our forums are an opportunity for staff from ArchivesSpace member institutions to meet and share information with each other and the program team about all things ArchivesSpace. The success of our forums is dependent on the participation of members and their willingness to share their knowledge and experience with others in the community. To that end, everyone attending the in-person meeting is strongly encouraged to submit a proposal. Brief 15-20 minute sessions showing off your organization’s implementation of ArchivesSpace, a tool or plug-in you’ve developed, a project your organization has undertaken or a new workflow you’ve developed are highly encouraged. There is a short Google form for proposals available at https://forms.gle/V7gtps3E9vnvdLXX7. Proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The last day that proposals will be accepted is August 8, 2022, and all notifications will be made by August 10, 2022. |

ArchivesSpace will be holding the in-person portion of its 8th Annual Member Forum on August 24, 2022, in the Commonwealth Room on the third floor of the Sheraton Boston Hotel. Just as in previous years, this will be a free opportunity for staff from ArchivesSpace member institutions to meet and share information with each other and the program team about all things ArchivesSpace. We are thrilled to be able to meet in-person ArchivesSpace users for the first time since 2019. The specifics of this half-day program continue to be shaped but the goal is to hold a casual and engaging meeting where members can highlight the work they have undertaken at their own organizations over the past few years to implement ArchivesSpace, improve practices and show off new tools or workflows they've developed. We encourage everyone who plans to attend to consider submitting a proposal to present at the forum. In addition to this half day, in-person meeting, we will hold two virtual workshops the following week on August 30th and 31st. Registration for these workshops is for ArchivesSpace members only and registration for each workshop is separate from registration for this in-person meeting. |

9:55am-10:15am In this presentation, Taylor will discuss the ongoing efforts of NC State University Libraries Special Collections Research Center to implement a barcoding and scanning system for inventory management through ArchivesSpace. In the past year, departmental staff have collaborated on a project to apply barcodes to every container in the repository while standardizing and applying container profiles in ArchivesSpace. This presentation will give an overview of our progress on the project, while discussing logistical issues in regards to barcoding our collections for future access. Taylor will also discuss NC State's vision for the project at its conclusion, such as using the space calculator tool in ArchivesSpace to improve our physical collection management capabilities. | ||||

| 10:30am-10:50am Embracing a Culture of Change Valerie Addonizio, Atlas Systems Think back to your workflows before you adopted ArchivesSpace. How often did they change? This lighting round is a prompt to celebrate and embrace the fact that the ArchivesSpace team works hard to deliver multiple releases a year, but that the pace of that development requires us to anticipate, plan, and adopt changes faster than ever before. This session will have some tips and tricks to think about for adopting a culture of change around plugins, staff training, and routines as they relate to ongoing releases. | ||||
| 10:50am-11:10am A Year in Review: The ArchivesSpace Metadata Standards Sub-group Kevin Schlottmann, Columbia University The Metadata Standards subgroup of the ArchivesSpace Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) "supports the ArchivesSpace community by taking a transparent and proactive approach to documenting the metadata standards used by the ArchivesSpace application and monitoring the standards landscape." Inspired by the enthusiastic reception to the Metadata Standards presentation at March's AS Online Forum, the subgroup will share highlights of its work over the past year, including improved documentation of the MARC importer (now with DACS mappings!), as well as plans for the next year. | ||||
