Conversation starters for Recruitment:

  • How did you get here? Who recruited you? Did you volunteer? Where did you learn about TAC/Councils?

  • Do you already know someone that hasn’t served on TAC, but would be a good fit?

  • What is the biggest barrier to entry to join your team?

  • What can we do about that (blue sky thinking)?

  • What can we do about that more practically?

  • What do you feel comfortable with in your responsibilities and what do you not?

    • Not looking for only leadership concerns here, which have been noted elsewhere, but the nuts and bolts of the work.

  • What have you learned on TAC that you didn’t know before?

Conversation starters for increasing Visibility:

  • What do you wish the community knew?

  • Or, what answers would you like from the community?

  • Or, what do you want to show off this term? Note that this is an end-of-term goal, so please revisit as the term goes on.

  • What do you wish the board knew?

    • Reaching outward is one thing, but reaching upward is another. We can engage with the community, but we may also wish to engage with the board.

    • TAC and UAC Chairs provide quarterly reports. In addition to summaries, we may also raise concerns and ideas. But what are these?

Conversation starters for Improving workflows:

  • What improved over the last year?

  • What didn’t?

  • Any new concerns?

  • Would your sub team be willing to present on what they learned this term to TAC during the next term?

Conversation starters for Communication:

  • What improved over the last year?

  • Do you have any ideas for improving scheduling? What tools have you used outside of your TAC experiences that may help?

  • Did your team start a slack or a discord channel? Now that I asked, do you wish you had one?

  • Any new concerns?
