The particular integration I'm working on is fairly straightforward though I'm taking a bit of extra time to abstract and test the tool as much as possible. In a nutshell, the project attempts to answer a rather simple question: as an organization, how can we get our archival records to appear on our website in an automated fashion? I consult and develop primarily for very small arts organizations with a need to present selections from their archival collections in a meaningful way on a branded organization website. The Drupal 7 edition of this project is just out of prototype and there's a fair bit of work to bring it up to Drupal current coding standards. As you likely already aware, Drupal 8 was recently released which includes quite a few vendor tools for developing web service clients. As such, there will be much less overhead in issuing a Drupal 8 version of the tool.
