Advice for future Council selves?

• Keep an eye on the timeline for the year

• Stay organized and follow workplans (but give yourself grace knowing life happens)

• Find the organizational tool(s) that works for you and use it

• Put recurring or other kinds of reminders on your calendar in advance of certain kinds of meetings and tasks

• Be comfortable/okay accepting your limitations even if that means something you planned to do doesn’t happen

• Don’t need to innovate for the sake of it - if something works, keep it

• Use the calendars

• Ride the wave of knowledge that’s going to be coming at you

• Rather than trying to change everything, focus energy on things that aren’t working

• Sometimes you might have to do things that are a little uncomfortable to resolve a situation

• If something isn’t working repeatedly, it’s worth talking through it and trying to resolve the situation rather than hoping it fixes itself

• Some meetings lend themselves to discussion, some don’t - it’s okay to have some meetings that are solely business-oriented

• Lots of good work has been done in recent terms to build in support, transfer knowledge - pay it forward
