  • The group’s immediate task is to review all current documentation, which exists in multiple locations (on GitHub, Confluence, and the ArchivesSpace website). We need to identify how they are connected, where they are being linked from, and whether any content is inaccurate, out of date, or redundant. It may be helpful to create an inventory spreadsheet of where each existing piece of documentation is linked from.

  • Identify project documentation versus technical documentation, and determine what the relationships between them are (as well as what they should be). E.g., the Confluence wiki should be primarily project documentation, but it currently contains technical documentation as well (such as how to commit code).

  •  Future goal to create a queryable knowledgebase of technical questions, primarily populated by content discussed on the listservs. Recommended the MySQL Forum Knowledgebase as a model.
 Status of last year's projectsScott
  • Reviewed list of tasks identified by last year’s group (“Suggested documentation team tasks”). Most have not been completed. They did perform an inventory of gaps in the documentation as identified by questions on the listserv, which has been posted on Confluence (“Listserve issues to add to documentation”). Recommended completing our review of the current documentation before addressing the task list, as we will have a better idea of our workplan and goals for the year at that point.

  • There is an opportunity to provide short video tutorials/screencasts (3-8 minutes long) on technical topics (e.g., how to migrate an Archon database, how to install ArchivesSpace, how to customize an importer). There is a small amount of funding available for each video. Recommended inviting Christine to a meeting to talk about this project.

  • It would be good to see subteams create a page in the wiki, with a section outlining our workplans and identifying deadlines.
