5minAction items from the last meeting
5minNew responses (if any) on the ArchivesSpace Integrations Information form
  • No new responses (as of 8:46 AM). It's a new year, is it worth doing some sort of new push for responses here?
  • Doesn't hurt to ask...
20minWork plan
  • For reference, here's our 2015-2016 Integrations sub-team work plan
  • Other ideas:
    • Resource that highlights functions of systems ArchivesSpace might integrate with: repositories, preservation systems, finding aid/resource/descriptive metadata discovery systems, etc.

    • Alternatively (or in addition), resource that highlights those things that make ArchivesSpace integrate-able: compliance with standards, API, etc.
    • How to do an integration (i.e., first check to see what others are doing, then, check to see if the data you'd like to have in or out of ArchivesSpace is able to be stored in ArchivesSpace, see if you can extract that data programmatically, find partners, find funding, make a plan with user storied and functional requirements, mappings, etc.). Maybe some sort of decision tree? E.g., Does ArchivesSpace do what you want? No? Should it? Yes or No, there's some other system that already does this really well, etc.
    • Outreach or educational endeavor to teach people about system integration: what it is (at least how we see it), what it isn't, how it can work, examples, etc.

Why do an Integration?

How to do an integration?

Important to distinguish between technical limitation of ArchivesSpace. There are functional things that other systems are solely intended to do.

Executive summary of sorts. Maybe if we had questions. Promote the success stories. Inspire people to do their own integrations.

Don't carry over last two ideas from last years, fold the other ones in with current ideas.

Feedback on specifications.
