Next steps:

To be added after meeting.

  1. ArchivesSpace user personas: the Working Group will complete the draft of the personas by next Thursday, 7/30.
    1. Everyone in the Working Group should have input into the personas.
    2. Personas also need to be written for crawler-type users.
    3. After Thursday 7/30, Cherry Hill will organize the personas.
    4. Cherry Hill will create test scripts from the personas (also after Thursday 7/30).
      1. Once these tests are created, Cherry Hill will work with Dara, Susan and Mark to set up actual user tests. We will be looking to do 3-4 tests, and each test will run 30-40 minutes. They will be run using GoToMeeting, with the testee sharing their screen. The tests will be recorded.
    5. The Working Group will be asked to review Cherry Hill's organization and the test scripts a couple of days prior to the 8/6 meeting.
    6. Per the Working Group's request, we have added a bulleted list of information that would be helpful in the personas.
  2. JIRA issues: the Working Group has confirmed that everyone has had the chance to review these and give their input, so now the focus is on the personas. Once the personas are set, Cherry Hill will organize the JIRA issues.
  3. Test Corpus: Mark has taken the lead on this project and will be responsible for getting the data in. Meanwhile, he has asked for participation from the working group in terms of getting data to use.
    1. The test corpus will not be publicly accessible (using either robots.txt or perhaps htpasswd protection, to be decided in conjunction with LYRASIS).
    2. Raw XML is the best form for receiving data.
  4. Examples of good, bad, and desired user experiences: the Working Group should go through this, and also look at real-world ArchivesSpace instances. Examples of the good and bad from real world examples will be extremely helpful (please include links). A list of ArchivesSpace members, some linked, can be found here: http://www.archivesspace.org/members
  5. Next meeting is on

Additional notes:

The working group requested examples of style guides so that they know what to expect. The term we should be using is pattern library rather than style guide. Pattern libraries are documents that show every pattern that is used on a site (e.g. a form field, a button, a header) and how those patterns should display. A great starting point is Pattern Lab – http://demo.patternlab.io/ – where all of the elements can be viewed in different responsive settings. Some examples of good style guides / pattern libraries include: https://www.drupal.org/style-guide and http://patterns.alistapart.com

While everything that is already known that should be addressed needs to be in either a JIRA issue or in the personas, the tasks don't need to be in both. We will be creating JIRA issues for any needs that are represented only in personas.

Krista brought up that most users come to ArchivesSpace projects with questions and are more likely to be in browse mode than search mode.

Based on roll call, everyone except Maura and Elisa were able to join this call.
