What did we do well?

  • Create centralized tech docs repo and define processes for members and developers to add and update
  • Utilized member's local experiences and expertise to improve specific areas of the documentation, esp. with plugins and provisioning (e.g., HTTPs, subdomains)
  • Regular, engaged participation from the whole team in monthly calls
  • Having Laney participate regularly in calls and help with the repo migration was tremendously helpful
  • Team size was a good size – not too small, not too big.
  • Set specific goals in Work Plan early on and continued to refer to them throughout the year.

What could have gone better?

  • Communicate to broader AS community about tech docs repo and encourage participation beyond TAC
  • More feedback from TAC and other subteams might have been helpful, especially early on.
  • Team didn't always have the right or sufficient expertise to address known documentation issues
  • A clearer charge for the team from TAC might help the group move more quickly.
