Demo - ArchivesSpace spawning functionality as of ArchivesSpace versions 3.3 | Rachel Searcy | Rachel provided an overview of spawning functionality in ArchivesSpace and demoed the ability to spawn a resource record or accession record from an accession record. This functionality predates the 3.3 update to spawning. Rachel then demoed the new spawning functionality in ArchivesSpace, which included the ability to spawn archival object records from accession records. Q&A/Discussion | Everyone | There were many positive comments about the new ability to spawn archival objects from accession records. A question was asked about what happens to information in default values when a record is spawned. For now, when a record is spawned with a value in a field for which a default value exists, the value in the field trumps the default value. Other users inquired about a way to spawn resource records from accession records in batch. There may be an API script that could be used to accomplish this but there is currently no way to do so in the staff user interface. Users are encouraged to submit feature requests for consideration and if there is interest in this kind of functionality, instructions for submitting a feature request are available at How to Request a New Feature |
