TAC:

  • Next general TAC meeting is Monday, Sept 19th
  • Sub-team updates:
    • Special group composed of two members of committer's oversight and two members of integration subteams are fleshing out proposal to re-organize ASpace Github, clarify who can contribute to which Github spaces, and define guidelines for contributions.
    • Integrations subteam also continues to update the Integrations & Community Projects page on the wiki and two members have contributed to the rights management spec recently developed. Adding guidance for new integration projects to wiki. Have two new members
    • Migrations subteam starting work on EAD3 implementation plan. Also continuing to provide support to users on list via referrals from program staff.
    • Technical documentation - compiling answer to identified FAQs
    • Dev Prioritization - Survey is out, had discussion about role while there is no development happening. Group was of the opinion there was still work that could be done - ideas discussed included more firmly communicating about / establishing a process for seeking ongoing community feedback so users will know when the community will they will be consulted; improving and/or clarifying the process of feature and bug request submission (e.g. only via JIRA?); backlog grooming and identifying where further specs are needed.
    • Testing - nothing to test at the moment.

UAC:

  • Next general UAC meeting is Friday September 23
  • Sub-team updates:
    • Development Prioritization: survey is out to get community feedback; continue prioritization work
    • Documentation: updated documentation for 1.5.1; working on a comparative glossary of terminology across AT, Archon, and ArchivesSpace
    • Reports: ongoing work on developing specifications for reports
    • Testing: testing for 1.5.1

15 minX-council teamsAll

Group discussed and decided that cross-council teams are established when there is a clear and ongoing need for contributions from both the user perspective and a technical perspective.

If an individual member of TAC or UAC is interested in helping with the work of a sub-team from the other council (e.g. Jason L. with the Integrations subteam), that is fine and will be treated in a manner similar to external expert / affiliate members (i.e. who are not Council members) who can join in the work of TAC or UAC teams for a period of time or to assist with specific pieces of work.

5 - 10 minProposed process for filling TAC/UAC vacanciesSally

Alston and Brad will bring this matter to the attention of the Governance Board at its 9/19 meeting and will note that UAC needs one appointee and has one nominee, and that TAC needs 1-2 appointees but has only one nominee.

Background to this is the fact that TAC did not solicit nominations for this year due to having a full roster in April when the call for nominations went out.

Further note from Sally: The one nominee TAC has from spring was put forward due to a organization misunderstanding of the original call for UAC and Board candidates. More individuals would have almost certainly put their names forward if TAC had put out a call. In fact, another individual approached Sally at SAA in August and expressed interest in joining TAC and I have told him I will update him once I have confirmed the process.
