2016-2017 Work Plan

The 2016-2017 Integrations sub-team plans to build on the foundational work it completed during it's inaugural 2016-2017 year to:

  • define "integration";
  • determine the role and scope of the sub-team; and
  • develop a system for tracking ongoing integrations with ArchivesSpace.

This year, the sub-team will focus especially on developing integration guidelines:

  • Create a "Why Integrate" resource (possibly a decision tree of some sort), which spells out the definition of integration and the benefits of integrating.
  • Create a "How to Integrate" resource, which outlines the ways in which ArchivesSpace has been or could be integrated with other systems (such as the API, open data standards, etc.) and provides or points to executive summaries of exemplary integrations.

The sub-team will also focus on educational and outreach endeavors, including but not limited to:

  • A "Systems Integration and the Archival Enterprise" proposal to ARCHIVES 2017.
  • Introduction to resources we develop at ArchivesSpace Members Meeting at ARCHIVES 2017.
  • Birds of a Feather session at Code4Lib 2017.
  • Get an integrations plug in Christine's e-mails.
  • Improve internal ArchivesSpace communications about integrations (e.g., between Integrations sub-team and Features Prioritization sub-team).

In addition, the sub-team will continue to:

  • Track ongoing integrations, maintaining the Integrations and Other Community Projects page
  • Contribute to ongoing integration work (as it did for defining specifications for the ArchivesSpace Rights Module)
  • Contributing and soliciting contributions to the archivesspace-labs repo
