Start of term - how’s it going (with all that has happened since our meeting 2 weeks ago )?

Continued talk of goals/concerns/ideas for the term

All

From last time, some major themes for the year:

  • deploying and engaging in leadership training

  • communication

  • improving workflows

  • increasing visibility of the Councils and their work in the community (we noted that the sessions at the Online Forum worked really well, for both Council and community members in terms of this goal and would like to do something in this vein in this term)

  • recruitment

5 min

anything else?

Some ideas from the goals discussion:

for recruitment

  • can TAC/UAC identify not just numbers needs, but also expertise needs?

  • can we explore the possibility of making UAC and TAC bigger (requires bylaws change)

for building expertise

  • possibility of doing an office hours, writing workshop or training-type of event on writing specifications?

  • BYU might be able to lead one of these

  • idea started in Integrations sub-team - could be owned there or made a broader community effort

for visibility

  • continue to add to member profiles

  • encourage every sub-team to make engagement part of what they do - there are different ways sub-teams can approach that

  • maybe not do the same type of Online Forum sessions each year since could get boring but do make something part of the program. Thinking through what their sub-team should do in this area could be an expectation for the Lead and Vice Lead of the team.

  • think about quarterly office hours for Councils
