Migration subcommittee concall, June 20, 2014


Chris P, Don, Noah and Michael in attendance.

Import Export issues/testing:

  • Don has the Houghton Samuel Johnson EAC for testing, and has placed that on the migration google drive.

  • Chris P. moved EAC mapping file to gogle drive migration directory and sent link. This is a partial mapping, but might be useful in EAC testing.

  • Noah has done some MARC export testing.

  • Michael will conscript some Harvard archivists for EAD import/export testing. We had a discussion about EAD3, but the consensus is there is currently no plan for EAD3 support in AS, so this is out of scope.

  • Noah forwarded notes from Mark Custer at Yale regarding ead import/export testing, this will be useful for Harvard testing.

  • We set up a timeline for import/export testing - we will try to finish by SAA in August. Sounds like Nathan, Don and Chris P. will be there, Michael hopes to get funding to go.

Migration Script issues:

  • Chris P. reported that his 4-5 Archon dbs migrated properly with the latest version (1.0.9). (Officially the Archon scripts support to 1.0.4, but no trouble migrating to latest version).

  • We can ask Nathan if any new AT to AS migration issues arose with new version 1.0.9

  • Michael forgot to mention that Harvard archivists recently went through a new round of migration testing using AS 1.0.9 and new migration tool. Once this testing data is synthesized, I can share with the group, and it may lead to some new pivotal tracker issues regarding migration.

Other issues:

  • Noah suggested we could review migration script documentation, and work on the doc. committee, to see if any tweaks are needed.

  • We will soon know if new members will be joining migration subcommittee.

  • We should ask Brad if there are any plans for a TAC meeting at SAA.
