Reflections on Open Call discussion

  • Not a lot of specific feedback in relation to our original questions. The call didn't go as expected in terms of directly related questions.
  • Seems to come down to needing more control or wanting custom reports
  • The call results could also lead to a survey to reach the folks who were not able to come to the open call, but would like to give feedback.

Notes:

  • How does the team and Laney feel about custom reports after the open call discussion? Main issue is the more 'customized' the reports are, the more likely the system will crash/overload because we cannot predict how much data they are requesting at one time.
  • Names vs. Agents for report title/heading
  • Change the way the CSV export works? (one based on search results)
  • Locate the JIRA ticket for a CSV export of search results set -- Sara is off for the summer and will be back in fall and will work on this (a few months from that, Christine says)
  • Using the dev instance of ASpace from Laney to view custom reports templates to determine best choices for 'semi-custom' or pre-defined reports. Each one would have certain fields checked by default, but there would also be other fields available that users can choose to add to the report.  This could lead to ceasing of separate set of defined reports.
  • See Alston's email for homework for next meeting regarding the semi-custom report option: dev server link and login, google doc assignments for individual team members, and detailed directions.
  • June/next meeting will be Alston and Nikki's final meeting. Reports will be needing a new chair or co-chairs.
