Detailed notes:

GLOSSARY

Question about difference between subjects and classifications:

     - Sue: comment in glossary to look at. Classifications is a record group, not subjects, legacy from Archon.

Sue needs feedback from the rest of the group on the use of the word "Repository." Some ideas that were discussed:

- Repositories term, think need a new term and did a little searching to see what options might be available

- Scott asked if we could keep that but include hover descriptions, etc. Answer: yes, this is technically possible, but we definitely want to make sure a good default exists out of the box. This is something that should be customizable.

- Krista suggests an idea like Reading Room.

- Matt, they use repositories slightly differently, have special collections units with reading rooms and have established separate repositories for geographic locations.

- Claryn, similar at Yale, repository is a bit more of a location indicator.

This discussion is going to move off onto slack.

Digital objects:

Change to "images" potentially? (Comments on the glossary page indicate this may not be the best approach, but streamlining like this is a good approach).

Classifications:

Sue also needs the WG to weigh in on this item.

Scott suggests also moving this conversation to Slack. @Tommy Keswick (Unlicensed) is going to create Slack channel for this.

We'd like to iron this out before the next call.

WIREFRAMES

http://cherryhill.github.io/aspace_pui/index.html

Went through an overall review of the functional wires, which focused on the search functionality. Had a few questions:

Question:

Tree view, if user searches a person or subject, do they see only items with the term as part of the record? Or also items that include the person/subject as agent or subject links?

Responses:

Krista: if someone searches for a person, would expect to see the the agent record. In tree view, just show the collections. In list view, show everything. If Maria Mitchell’s agent description only shows up in list results, think that would be okay.

Claryn: have a lot of collection where an agent is an author, but name is not on any of the folders. Want to make sure that they still appear in the results.

Susan: on collection listing (tree) when click browse contents, only see those items that have the terms that you search.

Cory: people coming here expect the list view option will get what asked for in the first place.

Question:

In the tree results, browse inventory: do the contents only contain items relevant to the search? Or everything in the collect?

Response:

Only items relevant to the search.

Other thoughts:

Brian: use in considering that subjects and agents shouldn’t even be results?

Susan: EAC-CPF coming, the idea that agent records don’t link to anything move away from. Agent record should be bumped up high and link out to everything that is related to this person.

Cory: working with Brad on expending the Agents module to include a wire range of information about unknown creators.

CUSTOMIZABLE INTERFACE ELEMENTS

@Tommy Keswick (Unlicensed) will add the elements that are part of glossary to customizable list.

WG will make notes on this document this week: Customizable Interface Elements

UI and DESIGN ELEMENTS

http://cherryhill.github.io/aspace_pui/index.html

@Jungleen Bae (Unlicensed) will be watching this page for feedback: Design Feedback

We will be adding another style tile with a more dramatic direction in the next few days.

For the next call, we will use whatever feedback we receive and present actual designed elements.

REMINDER:

WG please review the questions on this page: Questions from Cherry Hill

and provide your thoughts.
