Language Support Taskforce
The ArchivesSpace Language Support Taskforce is the result of ArchivesSpace’s commitment to increased accessibility and usability of the application. Based on feedback from the ArchivesSpace member community gathered by the ArchivesSpace Usability sub-team and presented to the community at the 2024 ArchivesSpace virtual member forum, the ArchivesSpace Language Support Taskforce was originally convened with the purpose of developing a specification for the development of multi-lingual description in the application.
This working group’s mission has expanded to identify needed improvements to language support within the ArchivesSpace application, develop use cases specific to these needs, and develop feature requests for the ArchivesSpace application to improve multi-lingual description and Right-to-Left text support in the application.
Initial Charge:
Develop use cases that identify the primary areas of the application where users require the ability to provide description in multiple languages
Develop behavior scenarios that describe the expected behavior within the application based on these use cases
Create actionable tickets that specify the specific changes within the application necessary to facilitate multi-lingual description
Develop use cases and behavior scenarios to enable better usability for those describing materials in Right-to-Left scripts
Create actionable tickets to facilitate better support for RtL scripts in the application
Work with the ArchivesSpace development team to develop these new features in an iterative process, providing active feedback to the development team throughout the life cycle of the working group
Test all new features related to multi-lingual description and RtL scripts in the application
